Born in Ireland, Joe moved to west London aged 6 and then to Borehamwood in his teens.
He started his career in the industry as a stagehand at MGM studios in Borehamwood, eventually invited to join the Grips Department there, headed up by Dennis Fraser, working alongside names such as Pat Newman, Terry Kelly, Jimmy Dawes, David Cadwallader, Freddie Fry, Tony Cridlin and Jack Scott.
Joe went on to concentrate his career in the lucrative commercial industry of the 70s/80s/90s before being forced into early retirement due to cancer. Joe passed away on his birthday in 2006.
I knew and had the pleasure of working with Joe, a good face and lb for lb one of the strongest guys I ever met. He left us much too early.
My dad. My mentor. My hero ❤️
